From Dialogue to Knowledge

Some of the most useful insights about conflict emerge in conversations that cannot be treated as public statements. The challenge is to learn from such exchanges while preserving the trust that makes them possible.

KMT distinguishes between the confidential substance of a discussion and the broader knowledge that may be developed through reflection upon it. Respecting agreed conditions of participation and avoiding attribution of individual opinions are essential to this distinction.

KMT Centre can therefore present analytical summaries and thematic reflections focused on questions, concepts, and structural relationships rather than on identifying who said what. Such materials are not transcripts and should not be read as statements endorsed by every participant.

This approach seeks to avoid a false choice between confidentiality and public learning. Protecting participants and enabling knowledge to circulate can be compatible goals when the nature and limits of publication are made clear.
